FAQ
This tool is a public, up-to-date database of climate-relevant bills and the key votes associated with them. It highlights which legislative moments matter most for climate outcomes and preserves a clear record of important climate decisions happening across U.S. states.
You can browse climate-relevant bills and quickly see which specific votes are truly significant. For each key vote, the tool shows whether a ‘Yea’ or ‘Nay’ would be considered a pro-climate vote and assigns an impact score to that vote—so you can understand which moments mattered most for climate outcomes, even when a bill has multiple votes of varying importance.
The tool was built using Climate Cabinet’s in-house expertise: our policy experts identify climate-relevant bills, determine which votes are truly key, and define what counts as a pro-climate vote. Analyzing the implications of the bill, they also assign impact scores (1=lower impact, 3=highly impactful) to each key vote.
This tool is for anyone who wants to understand climate legislation and the most important votes tied to it — including advocates, journalists, researchers, and members of the public. It’s designed to make climate policy activity easier to follow, compare, and learn from across states and over time.
